Philokalia means "Love of the Beautiful". Here that means the beautiful Truth of God, of His Kingdom, and of His Righteousness. The writings(now in 5 volumes in English) are texts of some 30 Church Fathers from the fourth through the fifteenth centuries organized around particular themes. This amazing labor of "love", and labor of "love of Truth" was accomplished by two modern saints: St Macarios Notaros(1731-1805) and, St Nicodemos the Agorite(1749-1809). The Philokalia is a treasure of Orthodox Christian spiritual life.
